Our first October in Switzerland Dan and I had spent a day in Zermatt. Since that time we've been waiting for the opportunity to take the kids there so they could see the Matterhorn. Last week they had a four day weekend so we planned on going to Zermatt Friday through Sunday. Janet's original trip was postponed due to the volcano so she was here to go with us on this mini-holiday.
Well you never can predict the weather....we never did see the Matterhorn. The clouds where thick about halfway up the mountains and never cleared. Oh well...we saw lots of postcards! ha ha We did manage one nice hike though and even found some animal teeth!
It was also really cold...winter coats, hats, mittens. This involved fighting with Benjamin for at LEAST 20 minutes every time we went outside. *sigh* We stayed in a Hostel which was really nice and provided breakfast and dinner!! Ideal for families. Sam and Dan made friends with a father/son from Lausanne....heated games of foos-ball!
