Saturday was a real treat because the big autumn market was going on. They really step it up from the other Saturday markets. The pedestrian street was even more filled and a second street was also blocked off. There were horses, saint bernards, cows, and men pressing apple juice the old fashioned way. There were even people passing out local wine! Freebies in Switzerland!!!!
It was a beautiful day and we bought many goodies to take home for lunch. Dan and Sam took our guests into the Jura mountains in the afternoon. They had a wonderful time.
Sunday was another beautiful day here and we spent a huge portion of it outdoors. We boarded the train in the morning and headed for Vevey, where we boarded another train that took us up into the vineyards of St. Saphorin. We walked for a few hours enjoying the views, the grapes, and the lizards! There was a winery that treated us to freshly pressed grape juice that will be used for the wine and allowed us to watch as they loaded the grapes into the press. The kids were fascinated. We also enjoyed a picnic lunch overlooking Lac Leman. The day ended with a walk along the lake in Montreux. Safe to say we all slept well that night!
