One morning we took the family to Knossos, the captial of Minoan Crete. The first palace here was built around 1900 BC!!!! The palace ruins are quite extensive and it is incredible to think of a civilization so old and parts of the stuctures still surviving. Zoe's favorite part were the dolphin frescos in the Queen's chamber. Sam liked the huge terra-cotta pots that they used to store grain, water, and honey. There was a story about a boy falling into a huge urn of honey and almost drowning. Yeah, Sam's five, he thought that was interesting...
Unfortunately it was seriously like 95 degrees and the kids were completely miserable. We didn't stay as long as Dan and I would have liked, but what can you do. The kids jumped in the pool the second we got back!
