Murten

Today we headed to the medieval village of Murten. It is a German-speaking town and is known as "the fortress on the lake". The ramparts strech along the western end of the city and we were able to walk along them. This was really cool and the kids were fascinated.

Zoe's favorite part of the day however was finding a shop that sold "all things cat". WOW, she was in heaven. We let her pick out a few things and also picked up something for Dan's Aunt Lynn who shares Zoe's affection for felines.

We also had a great lunch...after much searching. We actually walked out of a restaurant...a first for us. (eating out is never "quick" in Europe, but this waitress had absolutely no interest in taking our order and Ben was getting restless). We were glad we did. We found a small place that served pizza and doner kebabs. Dan and I had kebobs and the kids had pizza. It was crowded and we had to sit at the counter. The cook was making our food about a foot away from us and the kids loved watching him and he was a good sport about it.

After lunch we walked along the shore of Murten See (Lac de Morat). The sun was shining and there were lots of people out. The kids were able to play on a playground and run around. We run them pretty hard on the weekends, but they are troopers. By the time we got to the car they were exhausted!!!
