The School Bus

We got Zoe on the bus yesterday. She didn't cry until they were pulling away. The good news is that there is another girl in our building who rides the van and two other children in the next building. The girl in our building is, Laura. She is in second grade. Her mother, Nadia speaks very good English and doesn't mind to have Zoe sit with them to wait for the van. This is very good.
Zoe was also happy to learn that she can pack a snack to eat on the way home and she can look at books too.
Yesterday Zoe had her first "extra-curricular" classes. She had a French for beginners class that only has 2 other students and they both speak English. (Zoe was very excited about that). She also had a painting class after school. This special is in English. Today she will have more tutoring and chorus (in French). I think I also figured out that last week they were seeing where the kids were at with English skills. Zoe said that not all the kids in her class go to English a the same time. I was relieved to hear this since she can already count to 1o in English! ha ha
We also had our first homework sheet. They were working on the "a" and "e" sounds. She had to identify which sound she heard by saying what the picture was. We discovered a great website by Usborne which we had gotten out of her Children's French dictionary. This will help us with pronunication. She also had some basic math calculations and had to practice writing "a" and "e" and numbers 1-4. They write in cursive here, so she is excited about that.
